Jack Dorsey-led block, which drives square and bitkey, announced Today it will integrate Bitcoin payments into Square’s platform, with plans to complete the roll -out to all eligible sellers next year.

The company introduces the new feature of the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas, which allows participants to test the payment system in BTC Inc. Merchandise Store.
Powered by Lightning Network, Square’s Bitcoin payment system allows merchants to accept bitcoin payments through their Square hardware and offer almost instantana, cheap transactions.
The first launch is scheduled for the second half of 2025, pending legislative approvals, according to blocks.
The new offer is part of the company’s ongoing driving force to make Bitcoin more accessible and useful for everyday transactions.
Data From Bitcoin Treasuries, Block shows that the tenth largest company’s bitcoin holder, which owns $ 8,584 BTC worth $ 935 million at current market prices.
“Block has long been a champion for Bitcoin, focused on making it more accessible and useful in our everyday lives,” said Miles Suter, Bitcoin product manager at Bloc, in a statement. “Rolling out a domestic Bitcoin experience to millions of sellers gives us a step closer to that goal. When a cafe or store can accept Bitcoin through square, small businesses get faster and keep more of their revenue.”
The feature is based on Block’s expanding suite with Bitcoin-related products and services, including Square’s Bitcoin Conversion Feature, Cash App’s Bitcoin Services, Bitkey’s Self-Custody wallet, Proto’s Mining Products and Spiral’s Open Source project.
The announcement comes after Dorsey confirmed Last month, blocks worked on integrating Bitcoin as a payment option for Bitkey and Square. He noted that the integration process was complex and not just a simple task.
Block also announced Tuesday that Bitkey will introduce new privacy and security features in May, including a inheritance recovery function for all users.
