The FBI reports $ 9.3 billion in crypto fraud, older Americans suffer


The Cryptocurrency community is not new to fraud and hacks. During the years of its existence, the perpetrators have found ways to make money through naive investors. Despite increased supervisory surveillance in recent years, these fraud has continued to prevail. More recently, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a report that illustrates how Americans lost an astonishing $ 9.3 billion due to crypto-related fraud in 2024.

Although he was a lower proportion of the population, the FBI discovered that Americans 60 and older are the most susceptible to crypto messages. It should be noted that over 60 they only make up 17% of the US population. Nevertheless, they accounted for almost $ 2.8 billion, or 30%of all losses for crypto messages.
